The Council

The Parish Council consists of five Councillors and we meet 6 times a year in the Swettenham Club. Members of the public are always welcome to attend the meetings.

Swettenham Parish Council exists to serve and promote the interests of the whole community of the villages of Swettenham and Kermincham. It provides the first tier in local government.

Swettenham Parish Council are consulted on every planning application within the Parish and close to the border. Each member comments and reviews and the majority decision is submitted to Cheshire East Planning for consideration. If you have any concerns or issues with any applications in our area please let us know.

The Parish Council oversees the running of the Swettenham cemetery including the keeping of records and cemetery maintenance. It also makes an annual contribution towards the maintenance of the St Peter’s churchyard.

Members of the public may report any specific highway or footpath problem to the Highways department of Cheshire East. We are happy to receive information from residents of any issues of concern which can then be communicated to the relevant staff at Cheshire East but the Parish Council is not itself responsible for the upkeep of highways and footpaths in the parish.

Parish Council Notices and copies of the Council Meeting Agendas and Minutes are posted on the Parish Noticeboard at the Swettenham Club in addition to this website.
